Sunday Times Home

We were delighted to be featured in The Times and The Sunday Times article about decorating downstairs loos last week!

"If you have an Oscar, a picture of you at a royal wedding or a collection of Pony Club rosettes, this is the place to display it. Or you could invite your visitors to graffiti the room. The interior designer Emma Deterding has covered the wall of her loo in blackboard paint and supplies chalk so guests can write down the deep thoughts that occur as they sit. Some get wiped off pronto, but printable examples include “The secret to a happy marriage remains a secret” and “Boys! Put the loo seat down!”

Chelsea in Bloom 2018

It is such a pleasure to see the annual Chelsea in Bloom displays during RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The sun came out and the streets looked particularly beautiful, in keeping with the theme for this year - 'Summer of Love'.

Here are some of our favourites from the 2018 line up...

Great Excitement

Emma has just returned from another trip to Scotland, overseeing the progress at The Mains. Time draws nearer to our installation in just a couple of weeks time and it is really coming along...

Keep watching this space!

Storm Emma hits...

It has not gone unnoticed that Storm Emma/the Beast from the East has hit the country, with force, his week. Liz's commute to the Norfolk office on Thursday looked like this!

We have our very own Storm Emma (Deterding!) in the London office too, leaving a trail of destruction in her wake as we scheme for our large Scottish project...

Wellbeing of Women Gala Dinner

We were delighted to support the Wellbeing of Women Gala Dinner at The Marriott, Grosvenor Square on Tuesday evening. We provided table decorations to add a bit of Kelling sparkle to the occasion, including our favourite ribbon from India.

The evening, hosting 500, included an interview between Emma Freud, Claudia Winkleman and her mother, Eve Pollard and the Strictly dancers also made an appearance!

Chestertons Private View @ RA

Emma thoroughly enjoyed a private view of the Charles I exhibition at the Royal Academy, courtesy of Chestertons.

He knew a thing or two about collecting!

Kelling Loves by & 5 Minutes with William Yeoward

**THE SECOND IN A SERIES OF ‘KELLING LOVES’ COLLABORATIONS**

For the second in our series of 'Kelling Loves by...', we are so pleased that William Yeoward have got involved. William has chosen some of his favourite products (full list below) and has given us some great answers to our '5 minutes with...' questions:

  • What you think are the most important features when designing a space? Deciding how you wish to live in it! Smart or casual, contemporary or classic and how the space will be used.
  • What is the one thing you would have to have in every property you ever lived in? Comfort is a must. I cannot bear being uncomfortable.
  • What is your favourite colour? Blue and White - I have just written a book about it!
  • What if your favourite piece of furniture? My favourites change all the time, however, at the moment I particularly love our Ferdinand Buffet sideboard, it is such an easy yet stylish piece. I love the detailed yet understated work that has gone in to it and the fact that it is so versatile.

And finally, our ‘verging on the ridiculous’, quick fire questions!

  • Coffee or green juice in the morning? Fresh Aloe before anything else.
  • What country would you most like  to live in? Britain for its diversity.
  • Bold colours or neutrals? Always bold.
  • Royal Academy or Tate Modern? Why choose - they do such different jobs in a city that is so full of art.
  • Soho House or Firmdale? Definitely Firmdale. The Kemps have hero status in my eyes.
  • North or South of the River? It really doesn’t matter. What is important is to live in a building that pleases.
  • Mini or Maserati? As long as it is vintage either…
  • Sun or Snow? Sunshine please!
  • Pug or Parrot? Pug
  • Brunch or Cocktails? Cocktails out of our glasses of course.
