Sunday Times Home

We were delighted to be featured in The Times and The Sunday Times article about decorating downstairs loos last week!

"If you have an Oscar, a picture of you at a royal wedding or a collection of Pony Club rosettes, this is the place to display it. Or you could invite your visitors to graffiti the room. The interior designer Emma Deterding has covered the wall of her loo in blackboard paint and supplies chalk so guests can write down the deep thoughts that occur as they sit. Some get wiped off pronto, but printable examples include “The secret to a happy marriage remains a secret” and “Boys! Put the loo seat down!”

The Value of Good Design

Once again, the importance of good design has been documented as a hugely important factor in the ability to command premium prices for property, particularly prime London property.

‘Good design’ has a tangible effect on property prices, lifting the PSF value of a prime London residence by an average of 19%, according to this research.

Having seen time and time again, the effect that both full refurbishment and furniture staging can have on value and market interest, we couldn't agree more,

The article by PrimeResi makes for interesting reading, following quantitative research of 14,000 properties by The Modern House/Dataloft.

Chelsea in Bloom 2018

It is such a pleasure to see the annual Chelsea in Bloom displays during RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The sun came out and the streets looked particularly beautiful, in keeping with the theme for this year - 'Summer of Love'.

Here are some of our favourites from the 2018 line up...

Great Excitement

Emma has just returned from another trip to Scotland, overseeing the progress at The Mains. Time draws nearer to our installation in just a couple of weeks time and it is really coming along...

Keep watching this space!

Spend to Sell

We read with interest this article in The Times last week. It confirms the importance of spending on your property in order to sell it, particularly in light of current market conditions.

We are firm believers in the value of staging properties for sale or rental (albeit spending rather less than a million on doing so!) and have seen first hand the positive results that it produces, in the form of faster sales, higher prices and increased rental yields.

Val d'Isere Chalets

We have just got back from a couple of days, whistle-stop tour, measuring chalets in Val d'Isere. Having completed one chalet project for the client last year, we were back to work out the details of the next three.

With so much snow this year, the season was still continuing on 1st May and the slopes were looking oh so tempting!!

SW10 Transformation

Over the last few months we have been renovating this excellent property in SW10. It has spent a few decades untouched so a full refurbishment was long overdue. On completing the works, we subsequently staged the property for rental and received an offer within 4 hours!

Happy client, happy agent, happy future tenant!

The Windows Are In!

Emma made her monthly trip up to Inverness last week and was pleased to see how things are progressing on this fantastic project. The design schemes are coming on really well, the windows are now in and we have measured up for curtains and blinds... exciting!

Transformation!

We love to see the transformations of the properties that we work on - both KDStudio & KD2. This is our most recent furniture staging project, in Notting Hill and the added value is clear to see! We constantly update our beautiful selection of furniture and original artworks and they are proven, time and time again, to increase viewings and offers.

Storm Emma hits...

It has not gone unnoticed that Storm Emma/the Beast from the East has hit the country, with force, his week. Liz's commute to the Norfolk office on Thursday looked like this!

We have our very own Storm Emma (Deterding!) in the London office too, leaving a trail of destruction in her wake as we scheme for our large Scottish project...

Sunday Times Weekend

Emma thoroughly enjoyed hosting Katrina Burroughs, of the Sunday Times, at home in Norfolk last weekend. We were so pleased that Katrina enjoyed her stay - here are a few snippets!

Wellbeing of Women Gala Dinner

We were delighted to support the Wellbeing of Women Gala Dinner at The Marriott, Grosvenor Square on Tuesday evening. We provided table decorations to add a bit of Kelling sparkle to the occasion, including our favourite ribbon from India.

The evening, hosting 500, included an interview between Emma Freud, Claudia Winkleman and her mother, Eve Pollard and the Strictly dancers also made an appearance!

Scottish Project Progress

At the end of last week we were back on site at our Scottish project, north of Inverness. We are really excited to bring this project to fruition over the coming months, both as a wedding venue and holiday lets.
