Why use an interior designer ?

  • Do you like the idea of the Kelling vibe, and would like to create a personalised version for your home?

  • Or need advice on defining details such as positioning, scale, colours, joinery drawings, tiling specifications or how furniture should be upholstered?

  • Are you struggling with the volume of decisions you need to make on your project?

  • Have you found yourself buying items you like as you see them, but then find you don’t know where to put them?

  • Do you and your partner have differing ideas about things?

  • Or would just love it if someone else dealt with the administrative aspects of sourcing beautiful things to meet your budget, let alone handle the bitty ordering, briefing and overseeing suppliers, and managing the deliveries?

If all or any of these chime with you, then perhaps you need to invest in asking us to help you after all!

Putting together a room scheme

Given how easy it is to access our digital world and the myriad of inspiring images  – whether from traditional channels such as TV and magazines, or Instagram and Pinterest, or even visiting exciting design hubs like Chelsea Harbour, it’s easy to become saturated, muddled or even overwhelmed with so much choice.

Good design doesn’t need to cost a fortune, but it needs to be well thought out and planned to optimise its success. We can save you money by avoiding falling into the common traps, which are often costly to rectify, or leave you with some irritating mistake that you can’t afford to change.

As experienced designers we have seen it all and can quickly understand your lifestyle, and personal style. Our skill is to see your project holistically, and finesse your spend so you get the greatest impact for your money.  At times we can also help with decision making between partners - it is common to have differing preferences.  By presenting ideas that consider both your wishes, we can suggest solutions and incorporate them seamlessly.

We are able to incorporate pre owned items, and look to suggest clever ways to display your personal possessions to best effect. Creating something bespoke does not need to cost the earth and can be beautifully set within your room scheme. We tailor your choices for the way you want to live - such as not just creating a cupboard space but defining the size and types of drawers, hanging space for long or short clothes, racks for shoes and compartments for other accessories.

We can work with you in many ways -

  1. Full project oversight and design - where we take the reins on your project providing inspiration, sourcing suitable items for your budget and presenting as schemes for your approval, and then handle the implementation including overseeing specialist suppliers on your behalf.

  2. A more moderated version - where you pay for us to be your sounding board to confirm practicality and feasibility, and ask us to handle the administration of ordering soft furnishings, whilst using your own local team of builders and dccorators.

  3. Or a light touch - where we provide consultation support based you buying a number of hours of our time. If you come armed with what you want to achieve, we can help you make decisions on elements such as your layout, use of colour and selection of paints, and provide guidance on practical queries you may have for you to manage yourself.

Working with you, we give you confidence in your decision-making, to create a home you love living in, and feel proud to share with friends. So if you are planning, or already struggling with a project, do get in touch and we can see if we are best positioned to help - info@kellingdesigns.com.
